Bottle Stopper, Smoke On The Water, Blown Glass Top with Deep Purple Silicon Base
I made, ( hand-blown glass torchwork), the top of this bottle stopper using Italian soft glass. I really like working with Italian glass, it has colors in it that are brilliant and beautiful. Fun fact, the colors in the glass are from different elements and minerals that change in the flame and annealing cycle, not a pigment-like paint.
I loved the song Smoke on the Water, and in the Bitterroot, we are used to firing in the sky. The song was rocking in the background when I made the glass, so naturally, I had to add it to a Deep Purple base :-)
After the glass top was annealed for 14 hours I attached a stainless steel mandrel and fastened it to a food-grade silicone base.
This would make a nice gift for someone special or oneself and comes in one of our Aspen Hot Glass gift boxes.
This is about 3.75" long x 1.25" wide at the top and tapers down to 0.36"
I signed and dated the glass RaeG19 with a titanium pen
Thank you for supporting our glass-blowing business and I hope you have a fun and wonderful day,
More about us
We are full-time artists with extensive backgrounds in the high-tech industry, which helps us with the technical aspects of our artwork and glass blowing. We love to incorporate science into our functional art pieces.
Our small organic farm overlooks the Bitterroot Mountains with several buildings dedicated to our work-from-home lifestyle. The Steampunk Shop is Rae’s creative space; the Torch Shop is where we blow our glass, and the Big Shop is for general mad science and Bill's electronics lab.
Since 1993, our work has produced glass art, including hand-blown contemporary marbles, hummingbird feeders, and Pixie Orb ornaments.
We are spreading love and harmony - one piece of art at a time.
